Cablevision and ABC/Disney - lost perspective

I was a Cablevision subscriber who got to taste the benefits of their recent spat with Disney/WABC. What clueless fools both sides were!
What was so amazing to me was that during the spat both sides were quick to list the ways that you could get around the services that they provided (Cablevision: You can put up an antenna and get WABC, or stream the Oscars from site X) (WABC/Disney: You can use Fios/DirectTV or an antenna to get us).
It’s 2010, folks, not 1975. I was on the verge of moving most of my television viewing experience to a combination of streaming and downloads anyway (Netflix/iTunes anyone?). Their dinosaur dance motivated me to go to Target and buy an antenna.
And I’m saving money (or, more accurately, spending it on the content I want, not paying for a lot of content I don’t want). Cablevision gets nothing other than my monthly Internet fee (which was on top of my television package anyway). WABC/Disney doesn’t get a dime from this.
