Yay! Updates for iWork for iPad!
The best thing is now having the toolbars in Landscape Mode in Pages. It was very frustrating for me when I first stumbled into that.

My thoughts while I was reading through this article:
The Time and WSJ apps are first-generation. They both have a long road ahead of them, and the competition is going to force them to get better and provide even more value to their readers. And they view their competition as any outfit who can generate content, not just the other media companies (they paid attention to the lesson of Amazon...

Daring Fireball: The iPad (plus comments from me) →
A really excellent, detailed review of the iPad from a user’s point of view. Just a couple of quick comments on this:
I totally agree with the iWork comments. I want to save documents somewhere in the cloud, be it iWork.com, on my iDisk, or elsewhere. Or it would be nice to have a way to wirelessly sync with iWork on the Mac, but I think that’s too hard and clumsy to do.

The Road Warrior and the iPad
I’ve been trying to figure out why I’m so excited about the iPad. For years I’ve wanted a small, touch-interface computer that could connect me to the world wherever I go, and when I got my iPhone 3GS last July I felt like I was in heaven. For a while. The screen size limitation was the only thing, but I thought I could just live with that.
I’ve done mobile programming...
Daring Fireball: The Kids Are All Right →
I agree with this. I think I would still get into programming today, but it would be a much different experience then when I started. The opportunities are so much better today (and more fun).
In many ways, it’s the things that are not there that we are most proud...

A note on UPS and the iPad
If you’re like me, breathlessly awaiting your Saturday iPad shipment but living in a more out-of-the-way locale that normally doesn’t get get Saturday UPS deliveries, well, take a breath.
I just got off the phone with UPS, trying to discover if my iPad will come Saturday (yay) or Monday (boo). The gist is that it will come Saturday. Some points of interest:
If you want to check on...

Re: Palm's Troubles Are Bad News for Microsoft and... →
I think this is an interesting (but flawed) analysis of the smartphone market. Palm is very skilled at not missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity. They turned their back on their (sizeable) Palm OS development base and gambled that they could interest people with web development skills to make their device a success (but then proceeded to screw that up).
Don’t get me wrong - I...

7 new things we know about Apple iPad as it goes... →
The interesting thing is the potential support for non-Apple bluetooth keyboards. I don’t like the iPad keyboard/dock arrangement - a little too cumbersome for taking it with you.

Cablevision and ABC/Disney - lost perspective
I was a Cablevision subscriber who got to taste the benefits of their recent spat with Disney/WABC. What clueless fools both sides were!
What was so amazing to me was that during the spat both sides were quick to list the ways that you could get around the services that they provided (Cablevision: You can put up an antenna and get WABC, or stream the Oscars from site X) (WABC/Disney: You can...

Looks like it fits my requirements. Also bought the dock and the dock-to-VGA adaptor as well.

Just ordered an iPad...
So I ordered the $499 model - want a stylus and case for it next.
Anybody know about Apple’s case for the thing - is it any good? I’d like to get a case that protects the screen - my only issue is that it is a huge exposed glass object. Ideally I’d like a case that has some reinforcement over the screen for protection.
OMG! Not Another One!
Yup, now I’m posting here.
